Meet the Maker

Hi, I'm Jenn! Welcome to Hook 13 Creations! I'm the hands behind all the handmade creations and whimsical little creatures you'll find here. I'm so glad you stopped by, and I can't wait to share a little piece of my creative world with you!

I've been crocheting since I was about 15, and what started as a hobby has turned into something I absolutely love sharing with others! When my son, Paxton, was born, I wanted to make him his own little collection of crocheted stuffed animals. Around the same time, my husband was encouraging me to do something with my ever-growing yarn stash (if you've seen my craft room, you'd agree with him!), and that's how Hook 13 Creations came to life!

Why 13? The Story of My Family

Meet my favorite people! Adam, Paxton, and Wynnie are my little crew. Between the craziness of raising two kids and all the everyday moments in between, they are what makes my world go round. I am so blessed to call them mine!

The number 13 has popped up in our family's story more times than I can count! Adam and I got married on 9/13, Paxton was born on 5/13, and there are plenty of other little connections along the way. It's become a special number for our family, so when it came time to name my crochet business, Hook 13 Creations just felt right. It's a little piece of our story woven into something I love doing!

My Aunt Missy

My Aunt Missy is the one who first introduced me to crochet, and even though she passed away in 2004, I still think of her whenever I pick up a hook and yarn. In many ways, crochet feels like a special connection to her and a meaningful part of her legacy in my life.

A little more about me...

I'm a big animal lover (which probably isn't all that surprising... right?). I spent many years volunteering at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, where I had the unique opportunity to make enrichment activities for some of the animals. One of my favorite things was creating papier-mâché toys stuffed with treats for the chimps, lions, and elephants. It's a part of my life that I look back on with fond memories. It was such a cool experience, and definitely one of the more unique things I've ever gotten to do.

When I'm not crocheting, you can usually find me listening to podcasts while working on something else creative, cooking with one hand and a baby in the other, or on some kind of adventure with my family. I also work in Christian radio and camp ministry, which is a meaningful part of my life outside of crochet. I'm grateful to be part of work that encourages people, brings families together, and makes a difference in the lives of others.
